How we got here…
After matching on Hinge, our first date took place on June 4th, 2020 at Pier A Park in Hoboken, NJ. For much of that summer, we spent our time together walking and playing Scrabble in the parks along the Hudson riverfront and learning to cook together in Jed’s apartment up the hill in Jersey City Heights.
On August 28th, 2021, we moved into our apartment in uptown Hoboken. We’ve spent the three years since filling this beloved space with sounds of Michigan & Penn State football, aromas of even more cooking & baking projects, and cozy spaces for our cat, Tom.
The Proposal
Throughout Summer 2023, Jed kept floating the idea that his company would be hosting an event on the Friday of the upcoming Labor Day Weekend to celebrate progress on their marquis project, the Domino Sugar Refinery.
When that day came on Sepember 1st, 2023, I set off to meet Jed on the rooftop of a neighboring building in Williamsburg, and rather than finding a party, I found him there alone. Jed was set up with flowers, champagne, and a keyboard on the corner of the rooftop, all in front of sweeping sunset views of Manhattan.
He took a seat and sang Arizona’s “Heart so Big” before getting down on one knee.
